Desire Z and Kinect funnies

I swear I'll try posting more >.> I swear it. I know I always say that, but I mean it this time...

Anyways... 2 little updates. For one, I'm planning on finally getting a cell phone. Believe it or not, at 19, turning 20 in a little more than a month, I've never had one. But that's because I never saw a point in it. I wouldn't actually call to much, and texting on most older phones was tedious at best. But with the keyboards and smart phones being more common, I've been thinking about it more. I knew I wanted those two specific things, and wanted to avoid a windows phone like the plague. Considering how much I like Linux, Android was a pretty obvious choice.

So, I looked for an affordable phone, with a good plan, Android 2.2, and a keyboard. Look on the BestBuy website to see a $130 dollar HTC Desire Z with everything I wanted, and apparently, they give you a 100$ giftcard to go with it. So that is a $500 phone, for basically $30. My parents have been bugging me for what I want for Christmas, I'm sure this will work ;) Of course one of the first things I'll be trying with it is development, always did want to play with a touchscreen.

Off that subject, has anyone else seen Microsoft's response the the Kinect open-source drivers? After them claiming they would take legal action to protect the Kinect, they now claim that people making open-source drivers was their idea. Riiight. I wonder when mind control was added to their bag of tricks.

Aside from that though, some of the things people have been able to do with the Kinect is ridiculous. I may not have an Xbox, but it's definately something I want to get to try programming for, I already have a few ideas bouncing about in my head.

  1. I hope you like the HTC Desire Z. I have an HTC Dream and have been very happy (once I got a bigger battery for it.) Good luck on your dev projects and on your posting frequency.
